Midterm

Your midterm is Friday, March 17th. We will review some in class, go over your notes and the web site reviews. Don't stress too much over it.

I think the gap may be between the review and the exam. I should toughen the review to match the test. I know that some of you studied, but if I did a real survey I would say many thought they were prepared and slacked off on studying because the review was too easy.
So, a quick survey (for your own relection).

How many hours did you study?
Did you perform any of the activities on the web site?
Did you follow any of the links to outside materials?
Did you try to find your own animations/web sites regarding meiosis/mitosis?

Second point, biology is hard. Sometimes my class is harder, but I refuse to baby you all and teach on a lower level than I was taught. My class is a lot more interactive then when I took it in high school, and that may increase the potential for confusing students about what they need to know. I know for a fact that one student in particular, who has been struggling, worked real hard to pass this test and managed to miss only one question. I also know that we did a lesson where we analyzed the way you all think to develop projects that match your brain; did anyone treat this chapter in the same way? Jonathon, did you look for music for this chapter, or try to develop a song?

It is also not truie that you did not learn anything, you all will do fine in this section on the EOCT, I'm sure.

Part of the problem may be that meiosis and mitosis are easy to confuse. But I will not remake the test and I will not allow you to retake it.
